Pros

I have worked at OpenText for a long time. Started off in an entry level position. There were lots of growth and opportunities, before I knew it I was managing my own team and making my own decisions. It's great when a company believes in you. I love the work life balance at OpenText, espeically with a little infant. It helps to be able to work from home when I need to. The people I work with are great! I have great managers whom I have always been able to commuunicate freely with and learn from. I think I have stayed so long at OpenText becuase of the people and the opportunities the company has to offer. Other great things about OpenText is the work. It is challenging and I can honestly say I love my job. I have never been able to say that before but now I can. I am always learning skills and being challenged on a day to day basis. Continuous learning is important to me in a job and OpenText definitely offers that.

Cons

The only thing I have struggled with during all my years at OpenText is that it is hard to get a raise. I wished OpenText would be more proactive then reactive.

Pros

Lots of very bright people who are all working to solve problems and make things better for the customer. Mostly great software with lots of capabilities. Over the years many competitors have fumbled the ball and OpenText has kept building on its core products and supports customers very well. Stock plan is ok and benefits are very good. On many levels they care about employees.

Cons

Software industry is sometimes ruthless with layoffs as "the market" changes. If you are in accounting, finance or other support areas the pay is not so great and the work is not that interesting. As the company has grown it has stopped caring so much about the 'little people.'
