Pros

We have great technology, smart people and a decent plan going forward.

Cons

The need to move everyone to Waterloo is very frustrating. We are laying-off highly talented people outside of CA and moving all of the jobs to CA. The budget process is weird too. No raises for 3 years but we are going to spend $1B (with a B) on a research project?

Pros

A friendly and collegial place to work. Open Text provides an excellent environment to support 'the rest of your life'. Work isn't often rushed and most things work at a comfortable pace. Ice cream firdays are a nice touch.

Cons

Open Text acquires some-one elses innovation and focuses only on stabilizing and monetizing that 'other' innovation. Product Management is more the the administration of dying days of products and the endless triaging of one or more fire drills. Nothing to do but try to reduce your endless list of bugs with a fraction of the required resources while chasing the 'flavour of the day' out of marketing. Desks are down to 5 x 5 cubes.
