Pros

- Company is doing well, they effectively acquire 2 companies a year on average, milk the maintenance, get rid of dead wood & duplicate services, and pour minimal R&D into new products - Salary's are market average - Stock is doing very well - Benefits are on par with most US/Canadian software companies - Majority of people have been there for a long time

Cons

- Support management are very clicky with each other, you will struggle to break into the group and therefore career in any aspect is very limited - Agencies are reluctant to hire you of you worked here, they have a belief that majority of people lack skills suitable in other companies - Most people don't leave because they have been there so long that they are scared to leave - Young managers are often unprofessional & lack experience - If you have been acquired, your best bet is to leave unless they offer you a good position, most of your team will eventually dissipate - Culture is often lacking, good games room & breakout area, many events organised however very little acknowledgement of hard work and effort - Products mostly cannot integrate with each other, company grows by acquisition with little thought on product integration, as such they sometimes have multiple products that do the same thing - In Canada, this is a great place to work, don't be fooled by this in Reading or other Euorpean locations - Treat employees with little respect

Pros

OpenText offers a reasonably competitive salary and great benefits package and flexible work hours. Nice offices and good IT equipment available for employees.

Cons

The product lines are hard to understand. There are too many similar or competing products. There are very few minorities and women in upper management (Vice President or Director) roles. Better salaries are offered based on gender. Raises are rarely offered (e.g. one raise in 6 years). Senior directors hired from companies like CA, Nortel, Oracle etc. brought in their cronies and "Old Boys" network attitudes and as a result many key people have left. More defections will come once the economy gets better.
