Pros

Strong install base. Excellent product teams. Lots of tenured employees.

Cons

No cohesive product strategy. Massive churn across exec leadership. Quarterly commissions, capped at 150%. Awful culture - micromanagement to the extreme (tracking badge swipes and cell phone spend, monitoring your teams chats), heavy bureaucracy. They have instructions inside the bathroom stalls on bathroom etiquette. Very big-brother. This was largely driven by the last CEO, who was a total micro-manager. Wanted to approve every deal, every discount, every travel expense, every hire. The M&A bloat he drove is now resulting in divestitures, and the talent he drove away is the explanation for the massive amount of re-hires we're seeing. It's almost like the board feels guilty because they know they should've fired him sooner, so their atonement is "let's get the band back together" and bring back a bunch of former leaders. But bringing back a 2022 leadership team for a 2026 world is a recipe for disaster. The board is also stuck on the nostalgia of the glory days. And 20-30 years ago Opentext was a market leader, but today we're not known for anything. I have to start most conversations by explaining what our products are, because no one has heard of them except by their former trade names. If you're considering working here, you need to know that, right now, leadership only cares about one thing, the stock price. Not customers, not employees, not R&D, it's all about the stock price. The board calls the shots, not the CEO. The recent return to office mandate is an example. RTO is a cowardly way to do layoffs.

Stay away: poor leadership and toxic politics

Pros

You get a paycheck. Some of the people are nice but don’t trust anyone.

Cons

Exec leadership is awful. Always putting out the positive party line but it is all lies. Products are so far behind competitors. No investment in product or marketing. Senior executive leadership team shuffles around their “good old boy” comrades to new roles instead of retiring them or holding them accountable. The internal politics with everyone back stabbing each other to manage up and keep their jobs. Leadership is just doing what the board chair tells them to do. It is all about self promotion vs doing the job. They like to blame the previous CEO but he has been gone a year and it has only gotten worse. OpenText likes to brand itself as top company to work for , I say STAY AWAY!

Cons

Worst management and dirty politics they do quarterly lay-offs,if you see the trend even ceo and higher management people change quarterly, they removed more than 800 employees in March 2026 who did really perform well and got good performance ratings in recent appraisal, and they have a plan in coming June 2026 with a big number, kindly do due diligence before joining Opentext

Pros

OpenText employees are some of the hardest working colleagues I've worked during my career. Most are very helpful and genuinely work to make the company successful. Most mid-level managers are willing to help your career through recommendations to open management positions or other areas within the company that might be of interest to you.

Cons

C-Level executives (CEO, CMO, and others) were incompetent during my tenure. The CEO (2024) was a micro-manager, getting involved with any decision over $20K. The culture was report, report, and more reports (weekly). I spent over 60% of my time doing reports, which made it hard to get anything done. Everything required approvals (all the way to the top). My role interacted with many of our C-level execs and they were basically yes-men followers (not leaders). The CEO was removed by the board about 9 months after I left, but I'm hearing from old co-workers that the company is still dealing with the fallout of the previous CEO.
