Pros

- Some nice people on the ground - The attempts at ”attracting gen Z”, rebranding and positioning themselves as a cutting edge software company are so bad that it’s actually funny. Brought me some good laughs over the years and probably made me hold out a bit longer than I would have.

Cons

- CEO/CTO is like a dictator from a bad movie. It’s like a parody. - No one outside of CEO/CTO has any mandate to make decisions, so even small things take forever as they need his/one if his puppets approval. - Work/life balance is non existant, especially for a european working with US - Unclear career path. Multiple people, myself included, got ”promoted”, meaning we got put into whole new roles while keeping our old responsibilities and direct reports with no pay increase. When questioned, ”That’s how it works at OpenText”. - Lots of layoffs, very frequent, and no backfilling. Ever. - Terrible culture, like really bad. Because of the pressure from above to deliver results despite less budget and less team members and despite huge organizational changes that disrupts all processes, everyone is flooded with work. This causes more micro management, a culture of blaming each other to make sure your a** isn’t on the line and just a high stress situation that doesn’t allow for great work to be done. You’re basically scrambling to get anything out the door before the deadline, which strangely is always ”before end of day” or ”this week”.

Pros

Good people at the lower levels

Cons

More managers than workers it seems. Large cuts made recently only based on salary, not performance.

Pros

If you're smart you can get ahead because they are lacking strategic thinkers. Benefits are decent , and some roles the pay is pretty good.

Cons

Where to start this company is basically Unicron. It just gobbles up other companies and lays off everyone in it's wake. They lie about where the company is heading, change directions, then lay people off again. They preach diversity and acceptance and pretend to care about their employees but its all a sham. Run away from this place as fast as you can.
