Pros

none I can think of.

Cons

Having retired approx 2 years ago, largely because of frustration with my emploer through acquisition, I am today being hectored by the people at Opentext who in October laid off the last employee with working knowledge of a certain application. The application in question is unique and critical to a certain old-fashioned segment of the advertising industry, a minor cash cow for Opentext and one of Opentext's customers. The application went down in mid-november. Neither I not any other former OT employees want to help, I suspect that this legacy application is down forever, and OT is in a little bit of deep doodoo.

Thank you for your feedback. As the company grows through acquisition, there will unavoidably be some duplication in roles which may lead to team structure rebalancing to ensure that the appropriate level of skill is attributed to each area of the business. As and when these changes may happen, information is provided to employees as early as possible in line with legal requirements. We try as much as possible to support team members in finding opportunities in other areas of the business, should their areas be impacted by restructuring.

Thank you for your feedback. As and when these changes may happen, information is provided to employees as early as possible in line with legal requirements. We try as much as possible to support team members in finding opportunities in other areas of the business, should their areas be impacted by restructuring. In addition, at OpenText, we provide continuous development opportunities for our leaders, to ensure they support and manage their teams efficiently to foster progression. Overall, we hear that team members work closely and efficiently with their managers, so we are sorry to hear that this has not been your experience.
