Thank you for your feedback and positive comments on the culture. As a mature start-up, there have been ups and downs for us. The company had to pivot our strategy and focus on growing the parts of the business that we believe we will set us up for future success to fully realize the opportunities that lie ahead. Unfortunately, like may other companies, we had to make difficult decisions and we understand the impact this has on employees and their families. Our Talent team is committed to supporting our exiting employees to secure their next career opportunity and we are offering services to assist them.

Pros

Opentrons was a great company to work for. The people and culture is phenomenal.

Cons

Unfortunately they seem to be struggling financially as three layoffs have occurred in 2022. It seems the writing is on the wall and at this point we cannot determine how long they will be viable unless they get another influx of cash There is a lot of redundancy and many groups are unorganized.

Thank you for the positive comments about company culture and people. As our CEO recently shared, it was a very difficult decision to wind down operations for the PRL business unit and make a strategic pivot to center our lab services on non-clinical customers. This change will allow us to concentrate our focus on our Cell Engineering and Robotics businesses where we can make the most significant impact in the most differentiated way. Broadly speaking, we see these businesses as significant both from a business opportunity perspective and impact on the world. We do sincerely appreciate the hard work of those employees who were impacted by this change and are offering support to anyone who would like assistance with their job search.

Pros

Opentrons has strong product line, a great CEO and strong financials. You work with very intelligent and passionate team members. On the commercial team (the team I'm on), there are strong working relationships with very little politicking.

Cons

Opentrons is a startup with both very ambitious goals and strict (i.e. healthy) business performance standards. As such, working at Opentrons involves many ups and downs. You'll also experience a degree of uncertainty, as you build the plane while flying. It can be very rewarding, but never easy.

Thanks for the candid feedback. I couldn't agree more that the work is both challenging and rewarding. To succeed here, we are looking for individuals who are flexible and comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment!
