Pros

Great office space downtown, young and enthusiastic workforce, entry level opportunities

Cons

The company brings in lots of entry level staff each year with the promise of career growth opportunities, but in reality those next step opportunities are almost non existent. It is extremely challenging to get merit raises or title changes for adding on more responsibility/experience. Employees are constantly quitting, and Optum does sweeping lay offs multiple times per year. This means roles and client accounts are often being reshuffled, which is frustrating for everyone involved. I had 6 different managers within 18 months. Overall I do not feel like the company invests in their talent or cares much for employee satisfaction. This is a huge organization with many departments, and I believe some departments may have better experiences than others.

Poor Leadership

Recommend

Pros

Work from home (Is that even an incentive anymore?)

Cons

Leadership is vastly out of touch with needs of nurses and have unrealistic expectations of how much work is to be done in one day. Also, there is a 'workforce management team' which monitors and tracks every minute of activity on your computer. If you haven't moved your mouse in over 1 minute, that counts as "idle time" which therefore translates to you not working. My manager literally has asked me to move my mouse around during phone calls to make it 'look like' I'm working according to the tracking system. Leadership is more concerned with meeting the needs of clients than understanding the what the nurses need in order to be successful. Furthermore, there is zero emphasis on team morale or teambuilding. We do not even video share during meetings.
