Pros

I enjoy working for Optum. They really educate their coders and provide many resources for continuous growth.

Cons

Having supervisors who have no experience as a coder or working in Healthcare at times.

Pros

Good benefits from day 1

Cons

Ridiculous regulations (no coffee on the floor) Perks getting cancelled (Bravos, bonuses, employee appreciation) Refusal to hire decent staff at a quick pace, can't keep up with turn-over due to horrible practices and recent policy changes Inability to properly handle any HR complaints (Sexual harassment ignored, physical threats of violence pushed aside, basically thanked for reporting, but they won't do anything) Idiotic schedule changes when previous schedules were fine (previous holidays were normal schedule depending on day/time and holiday. New is rotating holiday mandatory with horrible 10:30a to 7p) Dozens of seasoned employees leaving due to these reasons and lack of pay for new higher expectations, requirements, and canceling bonuses

Pros

None come to mind at all. No joke.

Cons

This company keeps all of the profits for the higher-ups and works the underlings to death. They track your work and don't care if you have too much; in fact, they know FOR CERTAIN that you have too much work. They'll say that will end soon, but it won't ... until you leave and they get the next sucker in uour spot under the guise of doing your "life's best work." That's the punchline of the C-suite ... while they laugh all the way to that bank and you get diddly squat. Avoid this Enron, Ponzi-scheme nightmare alley at all costs.
