Middle management is absolutely atrocious. This company can't keep a manager in place because middle management is so bad. People at corporate are out of touch with the retail stores and don't give you the right products to sell in store. The company doesn't care about fly fishing. They use it to try to set them apart from other stores but use fly fishing as a resource for selling more clothing. Orvis doesn't use their retail store to make sales, as a company they use the stores to create business for the online/catalog ordering. They don't give you the tools to be a successful store. The way this company is run and handles things is absolutely appalling and it is showing in sales across the board.

The owners never let you forget they are owners. If you don't fish and hunt you are regarded as support staff regardless of your position.
