      Pros

      It’s been over a year since I left, but I saw an Orvis ad online and was reminded that I should leave a review. I met some good people and made some good friends. The customer service is exceptional and genuine.

      Cons

      Complacency and subservience will get you ahead, and pay raises are not tied to performance. Is anyone surprised that the longest-serving employees are the most mediocre?

      Legendary brand; Quality products; Solid reputation

      Cons

      Management can’t get out of their own way; they let 30% of the company go with two weeks (that’s right) severance for +10 years of service; they need to make a faster migration to high end tech products as no one’s going to be buying high end casual work clothes any time soon; spent so much $$$ on a website that didn’t work - if that’s not analogous for the fundamental rot there, I don’t know what is; Have no idea how some of senior management keeps their jobs.

      Pros

      Easy to get to by train. Great places for lunch in the area.

      Cons

      Political landscape. Management does not encourage teamwork. Key holders have unfair advantage with sales. Workload is not equal but sales reviews are. In-store management is very 'dry'. Upper management is very phony.
