Pros

OR generally has a great company culture. Reasonable work life balance, and remote work options. Mostly great staff to work with. Good time off, and holiday benefits.

Cons

Executive team seems to only be concerned with emulating other companies. Constantly comparing Outdoor Research to Lulu, Kuhl, TNF, or others in the hope that copying the flavor of the week will lead to success. Constant blame and accusations of individuals or departments for poor sales or lack of market share. Meager Pay. Raises that are half of inflation, which are essentially a loss of salary. Absolutely basic medical and dental coverage. No path for advancement.

Pros

Some genuinely good people. Was given a few creative projects that I could pitch/own. Discount on outdoor gear and once in a while some free product. Beer at company meetings (probably not a thing anymore). If you're just trying to get your foot in the door with the outdoor industry, you could do worse as a place to start but be aware of the cons.

Cons

Everything else really... Salary very mediocre. Benefits very mediocre. Received one incremental raise in 3 years there. Management could care less about its employees. Everyone is expendable unless you're an absolute brown noser and have little work/life balance.
