Pros

Nothing anymore, it used to be a low stress job

Cons

They don't care about their employees anymore. It was announced today by the CITO who was brought in, that about 1/2 of the IT organization is losing their jobs with their work being outsourced to Accenture. Back years ago people always said "oh PPL that's a great place to work so and so worked their their whole career" and I had aspirations of doing that. Now like many others, I have been laid off with a severance package that is a slap in the face

Pros

Salary was competitive - still good for the area

Cons

IT Leadership is clueless. Just let go of 50% of the workforce and demoted and cut salaries for many of the others. Morale is terrible.

Pros

Good salary, and good benefits

Cons

Upper management is a real problem. They constantly change direction, and don't have any answers for upcoming challenges that will face the utility industry. They seem more intent to add to their own bank account than develop employees. Completely inauthentic, they market themselves as caring about their community, and then they move IT jobs down to Washington DC, all this after record setting earnings. If you join this company, be prepared to have to interview for a job again during a reorganization, which seem to happen every six months. Should you receive a promotion into a leadership role, you will be attend ample training in leadership principles, but if you really pay attention, you'll notice none of these evident amongst the leaders above you. The leadership ranks are full of people who simply can't execute. They have created a toxic environment that's racked with the stress of saying the wrong thing in front of the wrong person.
