Pros

My coworkers are a high point of working at the club. Also, the facility is fantastic. I love working out in such a diverse facility (I can go to the gym, swim, play basketball, use the steam room, etc.). I also like having a diverse roll lifeguarding and teaching. It helps mix things up.

Cons

Pay: Lifeguards make less than at many other pools. Recent instructor pay changes mean more work without matching pay. Workload: Lifeguarding and instructing shifts are chaotic. Everyone is overworked and the people who don't carry their own weight are not penalized while everyone else picks up the slack. Disorganization: Many basic policies/standards are unevenly enforced or missing all together. This has led to frustrated staff and way more saves/CPR than I've ever seen at any other pool. Members get mixed messages then get mad at staff. Management still hasn't figured out how to fix this and often doesn't even acknowledge the problem at all. Incompetent Management Team: This has gotten worse over the past few years. The management team puts out fires instead of preventing them. They are inconsistent when dealing with members and staff and don't seem to understand the needs of the department. Their policy building is based on politics, not industry standards or the actual needs of the department. They make excuses or downplay issues instead of addressing them. Overall, overworked employees tolerate a dysfunctional department until they burn out and quit.

Thank you for thoughtful comments and constructive feedback about working at the PRO Sports Club. We realize some time has passed since you wrote this review and would like to apologize for not responding sooner. However, since your review we have been working hard to implement new management procedures as well as have had some new additions to our management team. The safety of our members and cast members is our top priority and if these standards are not being met we would like to know immediately. We would also appreciate any additional feedback you may have to improve our cast member management relationships and safety standards. Oppressive Atmosphere

Pros

Pretty much all of the cast members (haha) in the other departments were nice and friendly. Even my team members were generally pretty nice, though green.

Cons

The oppressive nature of the management (both immediate reports and not-so-immediate) made them difficult to communicate with. This added an unnecessary element of stress to an already stressful job. Management would also like to tease you with promotions and then look for reasons to not give them to you. The pay I also learned is FAR less than average. Not sure what's so competitive about it. My team was also held back for raises to "help with the expansion".

Old school ideals will be this companies down

Pros

Pay is great, coworkers are good.

Cons

There is no open door policy. You mention something wrong with your job and you get fired for it. You work long hours and they don't approve overtime. The members are snobby and treat you like servants, but the company promotes this because "customer service" is their number one priority, not safety or employee happiness. Stress levels are off the charts and it feels like highschool with drama and backstabbing in every department. I'm only staying for the pay, otherwise I'd be out the door. Someone needs to stand up against this company for their idiotic ideals.
