Hollow promises, hollow pay, work/life balance a joke

Pros

Can't take advantage of the pros... - Being assigned interesting work isn't possible unless you've been there for a long time, so you get all the crappy projects! - limitless vacation is worthless because you're overworked and any vacation is frowned upon. This company has ZERO empathy

Cons

- Pay is mediocre compared to other tech companies - Work/Life balance is an atrocious, you're expected to overwork at a minimum (50-60 hours) and anything less is unacceptable - Employees are the most arrogant of any company I've heard of. Period - Management "sets you up for success" by never supporting you. Ever - Need to take time of to attend you child's first day of school? Forget it. Visit your sick mother? Forget it. Again this company has ZERO EMPATHY - The people they hire are a bunch of superficial frat boys who stroke each other's egos and don't do much work, while rejecting candidates who work at Google, Amazon, Apple, etc. WHAT A JOKE!

Pros

Palantir hands down has some of the most impressive time to value and ROI stories from clients I’ve ever witnessed in my decade+ in sales. It’s really well built, delivers real value and it’s powered by some very smart folks who I respect. The offices provide good food, benefits are good (though bizarre that there’s no 401k match), and are nice.

Cons

Where do I begin? Despite being here for a relatively short amount of time, I left based on a misalignment of values. Here are a few: - Account ownership here is maybe the first thing I want to flag as a negative…the rules around ownership of accounts is not built for purpose. If you can build a robust opportunity in 30 days, you lose the account? I scheduled meetings with c suite, but earliest you could get on calendars was for 3 weeks out. Even still, account ownership doesn’t matter, sellers are fighting, stealing and taking from each other very blatantly. - sales team turnover: how on earth could you possibly spend so much time recruiting, hiring, and training sales people to let so many go within the first 6 months. People shouldn’t be worried if every Friday they won’t have a job based on meeting expectations (which are subjective and being gamed by many). Also if you’re going to live and die by metrics…don’t try to put people on PIPs selectively. My guess is they hired all these people to tap into their Rolodex. If they smashed it, great keep them for a little while. If not, fire and take their contacts/the door they opened up. Bonuses: too many stories of commissions paid months late, like 6-9 months, significant fighting for commissions, commissions getting slashed bc of all the mandatory sharing with people who may or may not even be involved in the sale. Culture- I touched on it above, but the culture is very toxic. There were a few really good folks there, but you’re conditioned to fight tooth and nail against your own colleagues. Efforts to make collaborating more appealing have fallen flat. Also don’t plan to have kids while working here, they view new parents very unfavorably and are completely aggressive to those who have taken parental leave. I should have known the first red flag when I was in training and instead of teaching you about the product directly, they just keep saying “this is the weirdest place to sell, but believe us it’s awesome and the best place you’ll be.” It has so much promise, the technology is best in class, but the sales team is run like a cirque du soleil, without the impressive organization/coordination of course.

Pros

Great food served 3 times per day The engineers are generally very smart and capable people

Cons

This must be the worst-run sales organization in the country. Working at Palantir in sales requires joining a company that swore for almost 20 years that salespeople were useless and toxic but was forced to hire salespeople by their investors. This stifling attitude is stronger than ever and will make you miserable. The comp plan is a total lie and they routinely stiff sellers or fire them just before commissions and stock vests are due. Half or more of every onboarding class is fired within 3 months for not having a qualified F500 opportunity (on an 18 month average sales cycle!). If you manage to create an opportunity, you can still get fired if you have mildly inconvenienced any engineer and they decide to say something about it. They will stick “deal captains” aka their irrationally chosen favorites onto your deal and pay them half of your commission. Much like Stanford Prison Experiment, these people are completely invested in their false little world and will abuse you to no end. They have zero sense of business ethics or respect and the only way to win their game is to simply not play. RUN from these people.
