Pros

Most of the people are great, and if you like to work hard and be busy, baking at Panera will keep you busy. Lots of independence, some flexibility in scheduling days worked.

Cons

Lots of promises were made for bonuses and raises that never materialized. The job is very physical and is a graveyard shift, and the pay isn't up to par with what is expected. The best bakers always leave because they feel undervalued, and often make less money than less skilled bakers who have more experience. Baker management is fairly inept, and there were rumors of drinking, drug use, and sexual behavior on the job by both bakers and managers. It is important to point out that I worked for a Panera franchise, and not for a corporate store. From what I hear, treatment/payment of bakers varies widely from franchise to franchise and that some areas treat their bakers very, very well.

Worst Management Ever

Pros

For the most part you have freedom, your not constantly being watched over unless a supervisor comes to check on you.

Cons

This is truly the worst management I’ve experienced in my 10+ years in the job market. I was lied to and mislead about my pay and hours. They say you will get a raise after your 6 week training but it took 8 months to get this 50 cent raise. Not to mention they hire you as “full time” but do not expect to get full time hours. They want you to do as much work as possible and be able to pay you the least.

Horrible last resort job

Pros

one free meal a day (they say you have to pay with 75% off for it but it hasnt ever been enforced and our store is always so busy and understaffed so they dont care if you get one free meal.)

Cons

No benefits. Overworked and bad treatment for how much you are paid. Never a raise unless its because minimum wage became higher.
