Great Part-Time Job

Pros

If you're working part-time, it can be very fun and easy. If you have a dependable car, you can make quite a bit of money in a short time, compared to many other entry level jobs.

Cons

Getting too involved in the ins and outs is not recommended. Also, definitely not a great full time job.

Being a driver for Papa Johns

Pros

No stuffy office setting. Little or no b.s. from any type of management personnel. Good comradeship with fellow drivers. Money in your pocket at the end of every shift. Free pizza when management allows. Your vehicle is basically your "office".

Cons

Top downside is the toll that delivering pizza takes on your car. Repair and/or upkeep costs on personal vehicle. You make minimum wage ONLY when you are NOT on a run. You make a pathetic $4/hr when you ARE on a run. Papa Johns charges a $2 delivery fee to the customer. You get $1.30 of it per delivery, and PJ's keeps .70 cents of it. Payday is every two weeks and considering how small it usually is, they should pay you weekly. Lastly, you better buy a GPS device.

Pros

Fun, fast paced, friendly work environment. Tips are pretty good if you're able to take deliveries also. Opportunities for advancement are present if you're interested, depending on if you work for a franchise or a corporate store.

Cons

The entire staff, including store/general managers are underpaid. Drivers and inside help are paid minimum wage, asst. managers are not compensated well at all. As an AM, I started at only 1.10 above minimum wage, and waited 7 months before finally getting a raise, and then it was only .50. The workload was very high for being paid so little, which caused almost everyone in the store to care less and less every day about the quality of work. There were no benefits to speak of, unless you count a 50% off discount a benefit. Changes were made to delivery area, driver compensation, wages, inventory procedures, store hours, labor goals, and countless other things multiple times while I worked there, and I was almost never notified until after the changes were made. (Note I worked for a franchise in the Portland, OR area, and not a corporate store, although I've heard similar complaints about corporate stores as well.)
