At Paycom, we want individuals with a growth mindset, meaning they are constantly looking for growth opportunities and taking advantage once those situations arise. We have leveling-up programs that enable employees to increase their compensation by adding various tasks and responsibilities. Pros

Some nice coworkers. Thorough interview process.

Cons

Hours are supposedly 8-5 but everyone works roughly 60-80 a week exempt not by choice. Micromanagement is an understatement. Will pay $25 a month cell phone when you are in the field 85% of the week. Unrealistic expectations. Horrible management with no managerial training just a great promotion from selling. Everyone is overworked and too tired. ZERO work/life balance unless you consider working with your coworkers your personal life.

At Paycom, we look for individuals with a growth mindset, meaning they are constantly looking for growth opportunities, both personally and professionally. When times get hard, our employees with growth mindsets persevere and attack each day with a mentality that their attitudes and efforts determine everything. Growing can be a challenge, but those who challenge themselves reap the rewards in the long run. Training our leadership group is very important to us. We host routine trainings for everyone in a leadership position and we do this to ensure each team leader or manager has the knowledge and tools to create a positive and cohesive atmosphere. We wish you the best of luck.

Pros

Good pay with frequent raise opportunities depending on your position. $1/pay period health insurance. For the most part everyone works really hard except a few bad apples. Extensive training that continues throughout employment. Can move up fairly quickly if you are willing to put yourself out there. Most senior management have worked their way up and are willing to do the same work as everyone else.

Cons

INTENSE work load. It seems like everyone is extremely stressed out right now. Seeing people in tears isn't incommon recently. Client load per specialist just isn't realistic as we have continued to grow and now sell to larger clients who on average have a large amount of products. Now that sales reps are targeting larger companies client load needs to be re-assessed. Clients on average have a lot more products than before which means specialists need to spend more time with them to ensure we provide the customer service we pride ourselves on. There are unrealistic expectations that are causing great employees to burn out. I often wonder if it is worth it myself. People higher up in the company have no problem expressing their religious views during company wide meetings. At our annual Paycom Prom everyone was led in prayer before the meal. I felt extremely uncomfortable by this. I am not religious and do not usually participate in such activities but I felt pressured to in this environment. As a company with 1000+ employees I expected those types of things to not be discussed on a company wide level.

Working at Paycom isn’t for everyone and does require added effort, but this is what a company with 49% growth looks like. It takes a person that is willing to put in the hard work and we appreciate your willingness to provide exceptional service. Our compensation structure is highly competitive and is in-line or better than averages posted by the Department of Labor. As a company, we support diversity and an individual’s right to religious beliefs. We treat everyone with the same respect and consideration, regardless of their religion (or lack thereof). We recognize your concerns and will pass these onto members of our senior leadership team.
