People that should be given leadership (team lead) are passed over by people who have not been there long enough. They want people going for leadership to have crucial conversations with their peers regarding performance and professional behavior. Having to tell a peer that they are slacking and messing up is not appropriate and should only come from leadership. There has been a high turnover rate of TLs in my department. They either leave to go to other departments or they just leave entirely. How about promoting people that are actually liked by their peers? The whole dynamic will change. It’s hard to work for people that aren’t well liked by anyone.
