Great company, but plenty of growing pains

Pros

Never once have I heard one employee (or a group of employees) badmouth another employee. There's definitely a strong culture of mutual respect here, and I'm positive there would be zero tolerance for anything else. Newton was purchased by Paycor in 2015, and since then the company has continued to grow. The San Francisco office just moved to a beautiful new location in the financial district, and the Fort Collins location just finished building out their office right in downtown.

Cons

Although everyone works well together and is friendly while in the office, there's not much outside of that. There are very few company / team outings, happy hours, or friend groups outside of work. It would be really nice to even see people going out to lunch with one another more often, or eating together in the office. Honestly, I can't stand many of Paycor's company policies. There's a disconnect between Paycor and Newton right now, and the two entities need to better define how to work with one another, it causes a lot of frustration. In addition, Paycor removes many standard company holidays (i.e. MLK day, presidents day, etc.) so vacation time does not stretch as far.

Pros

This company will provide you with income that can be used to feed and house you and your family.

Cons

Where do I begin... The Implementation Management team in the Lenexa office, while well-meaning, have no payroll experience or backbone which then leads to any issue or escalation being blown way out of proportion. The reaction to an unhappy client or missed punctuation within some documentation could both result in you having a meeting with the Director of the department. Overkill!! And for some reason the entire implementation department in this office is run by the Project Managers within this location. You will notice that this is not the case with the rest of the organization. These Project Managers will watch as you are helplessly buried under emails, calls and tasks while not lifting a finger to assist. This has led to a continued pattern of burnout among the Payroll Analysts specifically. You will also notice that most of the Payroll Analysts have been employed in their role for only a short period of time. This is due to the HIGH level of stress that they are constantly under. You will initially think, "I'm a Superstar! That will never happen to me." as you watch others crash and burn. Please don't be fooled. Even if you are standout employee, that just means your fall from grace will be that much worse. Be warned,If you have no friends or family that you want to be able to interact with the Payroll Analyst/Consultant role will be a great fit as it allows for zero work-life balance. However, if you are the type of person that appreciates taking a restroom break occasionally, eating lunch sometimes, leaving the office before 8pm at least once a week please STAY AWAY from these roles within this company, and specifically this location. They may try and temp you with above average pay or try and rename the role so as to confuse you. Don't do it. There is a trail of burnt out employees that this company leaves behind and then blames their failure on. Please DON'T be the next one.

Thank you for your candid feedback. We take it seriously and want your Associate experience to be better. The Implementation function is demanding and peaks in work often mirror our clients' business operations. For example, the start of a fiscal year or quarter. We continue to work on improvements for both new clients and Associates.
