Pros

Some of the overworked coworkers on my team are awesome to work with with.

Cons

IT is run by a CIO and his good ole boys club. The IT staff from CIO to Directors like to pretend they are bringing in outside talent to help them with their growth issues. Unfortunately, they don’t listen to new hires and continue to run things like they have been . They will engage multiple vendors at once causing chaos when it actually comes time to execute. The Database Director is extremely toxic and talks to other teams in a condescending way via a new Slack thread any time he opens a service request that isn’t immediately taken care of. The Cloud Director talks over anyone he can, insisting he knows anything and everything from Cloud to Networking to Infrastructure… he also used to work at a major hardware vendor so good luck talking him off any decision that contradicts that specific vendor’s technology. Infrastructure Director is an end user computing guy.. so have fun explaining all enterprise infrastructure tasks to him and begging him and the CAB team to approve any change requests. If your change request does get approved, you will work multiple times a week at midnight implementing the change requests. The morale of the front line workers is extremely low. They are overworked. They are done making recommendations on how to make things better because they have to fight the change control process to get anything approved. Plus they didn’t invest in these teams for several years. Everyone is burned out and angry all the time. Please do not leave your job to work here. Maybe if you have no other option, give it a shot.

Pros

- Ability to work remote. - Great place to start your career - Ability to make a change for customers. You know that you are working on something important. - There are a lot of people that really care. Just not many in Sr. Leadership - RSU are good and make it difficult to walk away from

Cons

- Paylocity doesn't care what your background strengths are. They will place you in a position based on their need vs. your skillset. I have seen people be let go at Paylocity by being place on a team that didn't align with their skillset. Example a Front-end dev being put on team that only does back-end services. - Paylocity preaches being a fair company, diversity, equal, and no retaliation and it just is not that. All the things they say they don't do. They do a lot. This would not be as bad if the company didn't pat itself on the back every time they start to do a little bit of something. Example requiring managers to watch video about equal hiring practices around new jobs, but then when a new job comes not allowing people to apply for those jobs and also already picking the person who is going to get the job before an interview even happens. - Empowering experienced people to own their work, make decisions, and stop micro managing. Product & Tech turnover has increased and the company doesn't seem to care. We have more associate product owners then experienced product owners. People are not empowered by leadership and experienced people that know what they are doing are not staying. Product owners are taking pay cuts to leave. This is starting to show up in our products as we don't have experience talent to build them and have to rely on a less experience work force. - Many in Sr. Leadership have taken a King and Queen approach to management. They drive down task vs. asking for the outcome they want and allowing the people closes to the problem to find solutions. Then when something doesn't go right they punish the people who did the work even though the leadership were the ones that product a poor plan.

The landscape is changing. And quickly

Pros

When I first started at Paylocity, you could feel the positive energy as soon as you walked into the door. Teams were happy, engaged, partnering and fun. You could tell the organization was as focused on the employee experience as they were growing the organization. Benefits are good. The buildings are very inviting. People are awesome.

Cons

The landscape at Paylocity is changing. And quickly. Leaders no long see or treat employees as people, but instead as numbers and bottom lines. It appears those that used to be the biggest champions of people and Paylocity are leaving. Also, quickly. Others are either looking or don't have the time to look/interview because of Year End. People are often put down far more than they are praised for their work. The environment has become a sea of micromanagement and poor people leaders. Many people leave the office crying due to stress. Paylocity no longer feels like a "Great Place to Work."
