Pros

Bi-weekly paycheck. Benefits are good.

Cons

Always understaffed. They will list positions but then just say there aren’t qualified candidates for 6-12 months. Meanwhile they remove shifts so they can say they’re all filled. They have set a goal for 1:1 provider to MA ratio which does not work. There is zero transparency and upper level management prefers a “kick the can down the road” approach. I had been one of the most productive providers at my clinic and advocated for staff and patient safety, but it does not matter because they want employees who will be silent. My clinic recently closed but they framed it as a transition even though we all got a letter of termination. They extended an offer to my 4 male colleagues one week after their respective interviews but they waited one month to even contact me after the interview. They fired 20+ female MAs, LPNs, RNs, registration staff and providers. The only staff members that have positions after the “transition” are male. The rest have been terminated. They did not file a union contract. They forced employees to stay “mandatory stay” and called it an “emergency” when in fact they just didn’t have enough staff scheduled. Pre-2022 the clinic functioned well but it has just gone downhill with ineffective management. Your only value to them is making them money. Otherwise prepare to feel undervalued.

Pays well but favors males

Pros

The HR department will fairly rate work experience.

Cons

If you are a women do not act as if you know anything- it makes the men uncomfortable. Just know all your experience is null and void. You are - regardless of experience and job level - a task doer. Every opinion will be challenged, all experiences undermined and belittled. You will not be assigned jobs or given opportunities commensurate to you position or grade. That will be saved for the men regardless of theirs. You may pull data for them. If you are a male, feel free to take over interdepartmental meetings spewing opinions despite having absolutely no experience. Women are expected to work overtime without recognition. The women in management join in with this culture, look the other way, and do not support professional women. If you’re a women with any experience- run away.
