Pros

Great coworkers. Rank and file employees are smart and pleasant people. The people you work with day to day are the best part of Pendo.

Cons

Ask about internal employee engagement surveys if you want to know what the culture is really like and how happy and engaged employees are. Negotiate if you do accept offer. There is no salary transparency and people in the same job can make very different salaries. There aren’t clear guidelines on how these decisions are made and it’s harder to get a raise or promotion once you’re in the door. It’s not uncommon for people to be let go on the spot with no notice or performance plan. Even when there is no malicious behavior and the company just decided to make “organizational changes” or that someone “isn’t a fit”.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We appreciate your commitment to making Pendo a great place. We agree that anyone considering a job at Pendo should ask about our eNPS. Transparency is a core value. Our eNPS is currently 56 (as of May 2019). This is down from two quarters prior, and our goal is to end the year at 75. To be brutally honest, I’m unsure whether we’ll achieve that goal. But I do know that we’re going to work hard and use the data to help inform our priorities and focus. From time to time, we do have to part ways with employees. It’s not something we enjoy— thankfully, it doesn’t happen very often. But in each case, individuals have received direct feedback and have been given the opportunity to improve. As a matter of respect to each individual, we don’t share performance details publicly, so it may not seem like the case, but it is absolutely the case. It is correct that we don’t have salary transparency—that’s also to respect the privacy of individuals. We do have annual salary reviews specifically meant to address inconsistencies in roles. As of now, there are minimal differences in salaries for people who have the same role. I am happy to discuss any of these issues with existing employees or potential candidates.

Brutal Honesty

Pros

There are many great people at Pendo. Some really smart folks that have worked at great companies.

Cons

Moving too fast for its own good. The company is bringing so many people on without the playbooks or support, especially from marketing, to sustain the new headcount. Senior leadership overcomplicates relatively easy concepts (territories, breaking out who can sell what, pricing, naming products, ROE, etc…). There is MAJOR turnover in senior leadership. Executives are often fired or leave in 6-9 months. This is difficult because as these senior leaders come in and try to make their mark, they uproot previous processes, implement something new, then leave. This process continues to repeat over and over.

Pros

Talented individuals across the company

Cons

Despite being Core Values, things like Honesty and Transparency are not their strong suit. The most recent two-star Glassdoor reviews from former employees have been followed almost immediately (within the same week) by multiple five star reviews that address all of the feedback (almost as if they strategically craft good reviews to not upset their overall ratings and bury any reviews that may be critical). If you're not bothered by this kind of stuff, then you'll be fine at Pendo.
