Pros

Build relationships with consumers, help them grow and become independent, helping them become part of the community, can be rewarding. Always can get overtime (24 hours every 2-week pay period).

Cons

Low pay compared to other similar local organizations. You have to go through a certification program for 2 years to ensure you get a bonus and a raise (and they only accept a certain number of people). Staff is unappreciated, you can be understaffed often (and you can get snowed in for days in a home), holiday work, can be physically attacked depending on where you work, burnout is easy, high turnover rate. You get paid the same now whether you work in a difficult or an easy house. I also believe they give everyone the same percentage raise now, (not based on performance) so what's the point of going above and beyond if it goes unnoticed. Higher ups try to show they care about the employees but you can tell that they really don't (not all, but most).
