Pros

Was a good company before it merged and sold out to larger companies who don’t treat employees well. It gets you a clearance and IC experience for your next job.

Cons

Company got too big and stopped treating employees well. They’re too focused on saving money and encourage turnover to pay new investigators less instead of retaining experienced ones. No accountability at the manager level at least in the DC region. Since they have an “uncapped bonus” structure they justify lower wages but it is way less than industry standard. If you shop around you’ll find the same job for 25-30% higher starting salary. It is only worth it at Peraton if you can work overtime or get assigned enough work to make big bonus money. Neither has happened in about 3 years, despite Covid where we worked even more. There’s a constant pressure to exceed unattainable statistics then not be financially rewarded for it. This company has gotten too big and I went elsewhere. I would recommend the same to anyone there or anyone wanting to work as an Investigator.

Pros

- Work/life balance shows respect for employees - Benefits are good - Good for veterans - Peraton is much better at business operations than Perspecta ever was, with one big exception described below

Cons

Manager endlessly berating employees about wokeism and other progressive politics. I did not sign up for this, nor welcome it. No, I am not going to put "my male pronouns" on my e-mail signature block. Several great systems engineers have left because of this. I will join them if this division fails to refocus back upon mission and great performance. Promotions appear to be impacted by your demonstrated enthusiasm for wokeism rather than merit, and this is driving good employees to look elsewhere to companies free of the stain of politics. Although fine in one's personal life, politics and religion have no place in the office. With America politically divided 50-50, aggressively pushing a divisive political position is extremely unwise in the long run. Once gone, former employees don't forget why they left and they share their opinions when asked.
