Opportunities for recent grads.

Cons

Zero work/life balance. Poor leadership. Poor benefits. Management does not seem to care about hourly work force. Constant threat of being fired. Poor pay in comparison to other manufacturing companies. Complete lack of professionalism in senior management.

Pros

Strong brand name. Opportunities for advancement if you're willing to relocate. Great insurance. They company is very socially conscious and is always on the cutting edge with its products and processes. It is a challenging environment and you will be very prepared for your next position at a better company.

Cons

As mentioned the pros and cons differ according to the business division, this review is an accurate account of the further processed/cook facilities (Concord NC, Monterey TN, Perry GA, Bridgewater VA, Gainesville GA.) 1) Low compensation - Enormous expectation: Hourly associate and Salaried supervisor pay rates are subpar when compared to other food processing companies. 2) Unstable work environment: Business needs change dramatically on a whim. Facilities are minimally staffed therefore any extra capacity comes from mandatory weekend production. Salaried supervisors will work 70 + hours a week and rotate off days unknowing one week to the next which day they will have off. During peak production salaried supervisor pay can be calculated out to $10/hour OR LESS. 3) People are the #1 resource, and said resource is vulgarly exploited. I have seen so many changes made that give people no incentive to stay with the company. Example of Perdue Facility exploiting its people: As punishment for a department making a mistake the salaried supervisors have been told that they will only take days off when the plant is scheduled down, which at that time was 1 day out of every 14. This was due to our "focus" not being in the right place. That's 26 days per year off if the demand didn't drop. I have worked in multiple Perdue locations in a variety of professional positions and for a college graduate overall I feel there are better places to obtain a job, and if you do seek employment with Perdue make sure it is in a non-operational capacity. Applicants beware.
