Pros

Nice location, friendly work environment

Cons

I was very moved shortly after the acquisition when the new management promised visibility, transparency, honesty, and straightforwardness. I have nothing but respect for such values. However, actions have repeatedly indicated that the new management team does not actually care for these values, and choose to say what we want to hear rather than being honest about what they are going to do. They sent out a survey about our benefits because they claimed "we don't make decisions without data," and then proceeded to cut one of the top-rated perks as outlined in the survey anyway. They promised the lay-offs were "done" before another round of layoffs, and then the closure of an entire office. There is no trust left between employee and employer. There isn't any stability or faith, and we are all waiting to see what happens next. The tension has not subsided in the many long months since the acquisition, and I do not foresee it subsiding any time soon.

Pros

There really are no longer any pros from watching the utter disaster that Perforce has become.

Cons

Janet and Mark have driven the company into a complete and utter failure place to work. Removal of perks, promises that aren't kept, lies about layoffs, lack of transparency to direction (although I'm not convinced that they have a solid direction for the software). I was there through the acquisition, through layoffs, and left because I couldn't stand what had become of the company. Things like firing local management and using remote management tells me they care nothing about employee happiness or advancement. My best advice to anyone reading this is to not go to work for them. They do not deserve your skills.

Pros

What's left of the people who were there before The Great Buyout

Cons

This was once a great place to work. Those days are over. There is such a great job market in Bay Area tech full of companies that are adding benefits instead taking them away, why would you want to work here? Benefits have steadily diminished over the last year with the new management, layoffs continue in secret after mgmt promised to be transparent (meaning the only way you'll find out is whispers in the hall or if the latest laid off employee tells you), morale is in the toilet with no sign of recovering, those who are left and care about workplace happiness are shopping elsewhere for a new job. Sad but true. On top of all that, it's likely they'll shut down the Alameda office and move everything to Minnesota so why bother?
