Pros

They won't tell your job is in danger in advance until they schedule a zoom call of 2 mins

Cons

Perforce acquires profitable companies and just after acquisition they will pretend that acquired company is making loss and to maintain the profitability they will reduce the workforce of newly acquired company by 50%. On being asked about their plans to reduce the workforce, they have one liner answer "ALL THE EMPLOYEES WILL BE TREATED WITH DIGNITY".

I appreciate the post and unfortunately with many acquisitions we do have positions that are redundant. In any situation where employees are involved we want to make sure we provide every opportunity for them to find their next role. In this specific situation, we provided a generous transition period, counseling, resume reviews and transparent communication throughout the process. We wish you the best and are here to help if you need any assistance. ~ Jim Cassens, CEO

Worst Upper Management Ever

Pros

Good people around who always help

Cons

In this company, you simply can’t trust upper management. Everything they say, they do exactly the opposite. There’s a constant undercurrent of office politics and layoffs. Opportunities for growth and advancement are minimal. I strongly advise against working here.

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a post. People are the secret sauce to Perforce. Our employees are collaborative, bright, and are always very helpful. We operate the company with an open-door policy that allows our employees to speak freely about their concerns and ideas at any level in the organization. It would be great to speak to you about where you feel we could improve within the office environment and corporate communication. We have really driven more transparent communication throughout the company this year and look to continue to add to this open, transparent, and productive conversations. Feel free to reach out to me directly for a conversation. I look forward to learning more about your concerns and ideas on how to improve. ~ Jim Cassens, CEO of Perforce

Pros

The Glassdoor interface requires filling out a field about the best reasons to work here. But this point poses the greatest difficulty for me. I believe the company may be suitable for those seeking a so-called work-life balance.

Cons

In the pursuit of this work-life balance, it reaches the point where employees in leading engineering positions have no idea how the product itself works. The office is empty from Monday to Friday. Occupancy is under 10%. The less you work, the more idle you are. Clients don’t complain – so why stress? These phrases come from people who have been here for years. Naturally, this might suit those who do not want to work. The interview process is purely formal. It’s hard not to pass it. For the simple reason that the interviewers themselves cannot approach hiring effectively; their competence in the specific areas simply doesn’t allow it. The product is a mix of various technologies, with each individual component being subpar. Consequently, they have few experts in specific fields. I may have met a couple of people who actually know what they’re doing. Mostly, it’s an attempt to quickly patch a temporary solution so that “clients don’t complain.”

I appreciate the feedback. We do strive for a work-life balance and I'm glad it came through as a positive for you. Based on your comments, we have an opportunity to do better in several areas including hiring, onboarding and product knowledge in key roles. All of these are currently being worked on to improve across the organization and hopefully drive better alignment for everyone. Continuous improvement is at the heart of Perforce and we will continue to make strides in improving our solutions, our culture and employee engagement. Thanks again for the post. ~ Jim Cassens, CEO
