Pros

Large company benefits, opportunities. There is a wide range of departments and positions so you can transition to a new role if you get bored.

Cons

Employees are not seen as assets. There are few opportunities for advancement and management seems to shuffle themselves around rather than look for new ideas.

Pros

There are some really great, hardworking and dedicated mid-low level staff. The office in Melbourne is in a convenient location.

Cons

This place used to be fantastic. The restructure last year was handled so poorly- Management have no idea how to retain good staff or boost morale. It's all about numbers now! Staff are not replaced and incompetent staff seem to get awarded with promotions, to the expense of those left behind that have to pick up the slack. The yearly perfomance reviews are a joke! Promises are made and plans discussed for growth and improvement, but they are never actioned. The first 4 years were great and then it all began to go downhill. I left because I was underpaid, overworked and extremly stressed. Management were told several times that help was needed to keep up with the workload (we're talking hundreds of emails daily!), but hiring more staff didn't seem to be a priority. Good luck taking annual leave or falling sick!

Recent strong business growth at PerkinElmer mandates team expansion and skillset upgrade. Naturally certain employees may find it challenging to upskill and keep up. And certain individuals may choose not to evolve with the organization despite all the support provided by management. Nonetheless every employee, present and past, are equally respected and cared for by PerkinElmer.
