Pros

Being paid to play with animals Coworkers at your level and below are fun and enjoyable to be around Customers become like a "family" you get to see them so often - they buy you cookies, candies all kinds of treats!

Cons

You are responsible for everything yet reap none of the perks Management is very quick to point out and write you up for every little thing you make a mistake on or can't help, yet you never get rewarded for a job well done Hotels are extremely understaffed while the store has an abundance of employees. Even though every management member is certified to work in the hotel they will never help you - NEVER. Yet they all hang out in the office forever. Core store managers belittle the seniors and tell us we "aren't managers", even though we run shifts by ourselves.

Pros

The interaction with animals was nice, the company is well known if you are looking to work in the pet or retail industry.

Cons

The pay did not compensate for the amount of work required, cleaning, constantly having run and play with the pets, preventing distriburances between the pets, not being able to take breaks freely, having to work the desks/phones small window for advancement and the job skills do not translate well if only in the Pet Hotel, my impression was that the Corporate Office would be better suited for advancement and valued experience.

Pros

Staff discount 15% Gain knowledge about lots of different kinds of animals Access to info and sometimes chances to adopt animals with problems for free Longer hours mean it can work with a student's school schedule They are tolerant of tattoos, piercings and alternative looks The animals are taken care of well

Cons

Manager jobs are all about politics. District managers will hire their friend or favorite from another location without even giving a chance at promotions within the store. Pay lower than many other starter jobs. 10.00 per hour and any pay increases you get are negated if you leave and re apply later Managers do nothing to stop customer verbal abuse of employees Managers will write off tons of stuff for minor tasks but won't hire employees for an extra hour or two a week to staff the department properly and allow tasks to be done People can be utterly dishonest and incompetent and there is no system to fire them People can put in a ton of hard work and time and get no recognition Employees aren't permitted to call the review hotline to give feedback, even when they spend more money at the store than most other customers No benefits unless you are full time. No one is hired full time(unless you are a manager and you get a salary anyways) Scholarship program is offered to students only if they are working full time...which would mean they can't be a student.. You are forced to sign a contract saying you can't disclose anything about animals or policies when you are hired, so if you see something you are concerned about you are legally forced to keep your mouth shut.
