Not a terrible place to work if there's nothing else..

Pros

As a pet stylist, pay is based on commission so you tend to control how much you make. Ability to move up quickly from cashier to other positions in the store if you do well in the first couple months.

Cons

After a couple promotions, hard to get into management postion. Seem to plateau at a certain point. Upper positions seem to be given out based on relations and politics rather than on job performance and ability to manage effectively.

Have to love pets

Pros

Lot of opportunity to help pet owners- adoptions, training can make a huge difference in a dogs life Christmas isn't as crazy as the big box stores Will spend or do whatever it takes to take care of pets in our care If you love pets, it makes it worth it

Cons

Pay is just average, benefits are just average Unless you work in the salon, there are few to no full time positions at most stores. Makes it hard to build up a bench of future managers Audit team likes to play "gotcha"- every year they change what they are looking for- often without changes to policy until after the fact. Very frustrating Paperwork is out of control. I really need a form to write my one on one's with my managers? I have gotten corrected when the one on one's were "not detailed enough". They are notes, not reviews.

Pros

Good communication w/ two up and two down (bosses) Great rewarding career Great benefits Great pay (management) Wonderful corporate & store employee involvement Just a great place to work! Period!!

Cons

Some of the policies are redundant DM can be a little too strict sometimes Very focused on sales and OSAT (surveys)
