Pros

Literally, there is nothing good.

Cons

I left this company in the middle of a pandemic. Don't listen to fluffy 5-star summer reviews. This company has many issues, and like most reviews point out, the company tries to deflect by saying it's in a time of transition, and those complaining don't want to change with the times. Yes, this company needed a change, but this company has no idea what they are doing. We push through projects to revamp the brand to have them crash and burn or have them scratched by senior leaders who can't agree. This company can't get on the same page, and senior management passes the blame. When you have lousy leadership, none of the new programs will succeed. I started job hunting last fall, hearing of the reorganizations and layoffs happening; my role was not impacted, but the changes negatively impacted our team. When the company moved to the new offices,' many employees doubled their commute times, and managers were not open to working from home or other options. HR would defer to their managers. There was no point in trying to talk to anyone for support. With Covid-19, all corporate employees have been working from home and getting work done to the manager's surprise. Treat employees like adults, stop trying to hide behind 1970 HR policies. The company made a massive push for the open space environment and coming into the millennium as a "hip" company. Yet, employees were given less freedom and treated more like children. The CEO says I want to empower you all to remove all the red tape, but the very leaders he brought on are the most significant red tape. We can't move forward when leaders want to micromanage and keep an eye on everything. It's challenging to work cross-functionally when leaders are bickering and just passing the blame to save their jobs instead of doing their jobs and collaborating. Hiring 2 innovation teams is not innovating; making leaders accountable for their behavior and changing the environment to do work and innovate is what is needed.

We’re sorry to hear this has been your experience. As you pointed out, this is an important moment in Pharmavite’s history as we transform our market-leading company for ongoing future success at a time when bringing the gift of health to life has never been more important. Due to the pandemic, we have had to make many adjustments to our ways of working. We recently conducted a company survey to evaluate employee sentiment about those changes and related impact on productivity, safety, and engagement. We’re happy to report that the vast majority of employees are proud to be associated with Pharmavite and report feeling positive about their work at Pharmavite. Employees have confidence that our strategy will enable Pharmavite to deliver on our Purpose. We’ve also made meaningful improvements in the areas our employees have previously expressed as opportunity areas, including cross-functional collaboration and empowered decision making. We’re disappointed that you did not feel a part of this progress, and we wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Cons

Lack of leadership, constant turnover, not serious about promoting with in and it takes to long to hire new employees. Very few who actually care about their departments team. It's all about numbers. The last 5 years has be notorious for lack of leadership and empty departments. Small group of employees who still remain hopeful for change but there is a larger group looking for new employment.

Pros

-OK compensation - Free Vitamins -Decent brand name (Nature Made) in nutraceutical industry

Cons

When I think of my time at Pharmavite I'm troubled by the fact that it has so many things going for it: great products, interesting and diverse pipeline, and they have talented staff and yet they cannot get qualified & competent R&D leadership. Many of the managers are incompetent when it comes to managing staff, and they should undeniably remain individual contributors. Unfortunately I found that there is no recourse to resolve issues with management as no measures were taken to improve the situation despite many, many, warning signs. It seemed like what Pharmavite management wanted to do was the drive fear into its employees. I worked in a department where they were hiring and firing people every month, like a revolving door. They like to bully people around there. The stress level was high due to a lack of communication, bully mentality of the managers I feel that working for Pharmavite, you have to have no emotions, no say in what is right or wrong. I had come to feel powerless and disrespected working there and they had made sure that the scientist working there felt small and powerless in a large corporation that has multi-million of dollars. Those of us who have worked in businesses like Pharmavite know that there are no emotions, no compassion, no kindness, no love, no consideration. What Pharmavite has shown me is that they don’t really care about people who worked hard to deliver good service for them. There’s lot of anger, frustration, politics, in the air there. And in the end, this energy is transferred to the outside world and personal life.
