Pros

The company provides a strong, defined career path for young new hires (although older hires struggle to be recognized for their contributions and commitment). The company also offers a broad and robust learning and development program.

Cons

The phrase "if you're not Dutch, you're not much" has never been more true than it is now. Local (as in North American) employees are leaving at an astonishing rate - numerous in Q1 and Q2, and a lay off announced in the last few days will further erode morale and engagement of those remaining. Dutch employees in the US are brought in to replace those who have left or been forced to leave and they rarely suffer the same fate as local employees, being airlifted out to a secure job in Holland or elsewhere when the going gets tough. Dutch people are regularly promoted while in the US, while other long standing, hi-performing employees are left in the dust. Philips Consumer Lifestyles has boosted its engagement ratings by requiring managers and supervisors to include engagement scores in their incentive-linked annual goals - employees (human nature) inflate their engagement ratings to increase their incentive payments. Draw your own conclusions about this.

Pros

They have multiple initiatives that directly involve acting on employee feedback. During my 5 years there, I saw changes to processes, operations, communication and teamwork both individually and between departments. All of this was driven from the level of the everyday employee upwards.

Cons

Wages are reviewed only once per year for a max of a 5% salary increase. Unless you're a star performer, with time, your current wage with many years of experience could be equal to the minimum starting wage of new employees with zero experience doing the same job.

Pros

Good benefits, flexible work schedule, 3 weeks vacation to start. My direct manager is awesome, very personable.

Cons

Pay is low. They have the same problem as all large corps’ when it comes to changes internally, very slow. Systems seem to be antiquated.
