Pros

Insurance available to part-time employees, Vacation pay, Holiday pay

Cons

Unrealistic expectations from Corporate, pay freezes, promotion freezes, hours cut at their leisure. Departments are given an allowance for hours each week and it varies so someone is bound to lose hours, no guarantee even if you have seniority.

Pros

It really builds the sense of team work because all departments have to work together to achieve customer satisfaction. A lot of my coworkers are amazing and make time go by faster. With so many people coming through your line as a cashier, you meet a lot of people that could potentially make connections for you in the future.

Cons

If it weren't for my coworkers and those few polite customers, I would probably go insane. The amount of rude people I get through my line is unbelievable. I get attitude about coupons, and just about anything they decide to pick out. People stand and watch me scan their items and complain that something didn't come up on sale, when in fact it did, and then they wait for me to bag their entire order and they don't help at all. I understand I'm supposed to help the customer, but it would make things go a lot faster if they helped bag their own groceries. Also, when I am an express lane with 15 items or less, a lot of people seem to forget how to read, and they come through with loaded carts, and then customers behind them in line yell at me for not throwing the previous customer out of my line. I'm really ready to get out of customer service.
