Pros

When I first started here, it was a great place to work, had an understanding manager who offered development and encouraged growth and learning. This all changed after new managment was brought in to implement the EMR. Benefits were good initially, but once the healthcare initiative took effect, the healthcare plan changed. Co-workers on a non-management level were friendly, and most worked well together.

Cons

When new management took effect a couple years ago, things changed. The management in the IT department proved to incompetent. Offering no professional development, nor guidance to further employee's careers. At times, it was a hostile work environment and the threat of retaliation was high. Managers that underperformed constantly were covered by their leadership, even though the team knew and expressed concern. They seem to promote the bad managers, while keeping the good ones "in place". There is no room for professional advancement opportunities, and some of the ways interviews are handled are worthy of HR complaints. Lack of recognition for employees that perform above the standard set. New health benefit is lacking in taking care of the employee, but appears to be more of a financial decision.

Pros

History of patient care at Piedmont Hospital goes back over a century; since the founding times, generations of physicians, nurses and support staff worked hard to turn Piedmont Hospital into the top private medical center in Atlanta, where patients would be seen by the best doctors in their specialties, and received the best care whether they are treated in the clinic or in the hospital.

Cons

Things changed when the new Piedmont Healthcare top leadership (under Tim Stack) decided that the best way to load up their big wallets is getting more revenue (more patients to pay), which means buying more hospitals and physician practices. While they say that the integration process brings more choices to patients, in fact, the opposite is true. These patients are now locked into the same system, if they want to keep their doctors. There's a reason whenever something like this happens, it has to be cleared by the anti-trust laws. Another little-known secret to getting more revenue is to coach the surgeons and physicians to come up with (not-so-honest) documentation that would justifies the highest insurance reimbursement.

There are no pro's, vert stressful environment.

Cons

IS Dept. at Paces West are being over seen by "older" employees that refuse to change their ideas and approach on how on to be efficient and successful. People with "titles" but appear to have no knowledge on how to direct. There is no structure in any form and problems are never resolved juat "patched up". Employees are receiving kickbacks from Vendors hired to provide products and services.
