Pros

Placer County offers great benefits, paid vacations, sick time, Cal-Pers retirement, hardworking people. Flexibility and a wide variety of positions. Offers different locations such as our Lake Tahoe Office. Different shift options (8, 9/80's, 4/10's, 12's) some positions are around the clock, weekends, and holidays. You get shift differential for certain shifts. We get holiday pay, and currently have 13 paid holidays a year.

Cons

Hard to get into, background check sometimes takes months. Limited term positions or 1000 hour positions to get your foot in the door (work without benefits or perks). A lot of good people enter as this type of employment and the hours get used up before the end of the fiscal year limits. Time and money are spent on training only to have the hours run out and another person has to be brought in for the same position.

The work is rewarding and drives ones self to excellence, but it is truely a thankless job.

Pros

The pay leads the industry for the geographic area and the non-monetary compensation puts Placer County, Health & Human Services over the top in terms of best places to work in the Sierra Foothills.

Cons

Upward mobility is difficult with Senior Staff, Supervisors, and Managers holding the same positions for long (often too long) periods of time.
