Pros

This is one of those companies where you will be hired and just thrown into the pit without training. If you're a quick learner and can handle a high energy, fast paced environment, then this might be a welcomed challenge. You'll also be working with some great and interesting people. Lunch and Learns every Friday. Heck yeah! Annual snowmobiling business retreat during the winter that's entirely paid for. Doesn't appeal to everyone though.

Cons

Unless you believe you are absolutely qualified for the particular job opening at Plixer, don't apply here. You will be expected to perform 120% without error. If you F-up, don't be surprised if you're thrown under the bus or yelled at in front of the entire department. You will not get the respectful and understanding, "learn from your mistakes" encouragement. Plixer can have its fun and amusing moments, but you will have immense stress shadowing you. It's fear that motivates you to put in more hours, work harder, skip lunches. There is some opportunity for advancement since I'm sure Plixer will continue to become bigger and more successful. The non-competitive pay and high level of stress is not worth it if you're looking for a stepping stone as a learning environment as you will not be learning anything to become more specialized in a given field anyway. Management does reward success and hard work every once in a while with beers on Fridays or paid unlimited bar tabs after work (no complaints there), but it's a feeble compensation compared to what everyone actually needs like bonuses etc.

Plixer International Response

Good morning, I am sorry that this was your experience and we are taking your feedback seriously. We are respectful of your input and it is troublesome to me that anyone felt this way about their experience with Plixer. This is definitely not the culture we are striving for. We have developed a comprehensive week long training session for our new hires, culminating in an offsite training session in s. Portland. In addition to the initial training we have the Friday Lunch and Learn (which you mentioned), a Monday morning SDR training session and then 2 hour long training sessions put on by our solution engineers weekly. For those of you who don’t know, the Lunch and Learn means that Plixer goes out to one of our local eateries and buys lunch for everyone so we can eat and learn at the same time. Over the last couple of months we have promoted 5 Sales Development Reps into more senior positions to grow those teams and I’m happy to say they are excelling. I am passionate about rewarding hard work with advancement within the organization. I am in no way discounting your feedback. In fact, I appreciate it. To me the most important component for success is people and all companies should be constantly evaluating and improving that relationship. I would welcome any additional thoughts on this topic. I assume you know how to get in touch with me but if not; scottb@plixer.com or 207-324-8805 x 251 Thank you for your feedback, Scott Brown
