Pros

the people - somehow pluralsight finds a way to attract some of the best people ive ever worked with. unfortunately - it never keeps them.

Cons

2nd round of layoffs with no communication to anyone within the org - just a vague email about a restructure then a wave of linkedin posts from people who were laid off. if you weren't laid off this time you've either been looking for employment elsewhere or have already put in your notice as the only way to get a raise/ more opportunity is to get a new job. This place is an absolute disaster at this point - severely understaffed , actively firing people and outsourcing in India (yes outsourcing) , no real plan for the future regarding the integration of ACG. Employee morale is at an all time low and people are being told they're unhahppy because of poor performance (actual quote from the CPO).

Pluralsight Response

Thank you for sharing your perspective. I’m sorry to hear your experience at Pluralsight has been negative. Our recent restructure resulted in some team members being let go. This was communicated in the email sent to all team members and openly discussed in our product & tech all hands call. Our plans to expand our India office is an important focus for us, and like many tech employers, we are working hard to attract the same caliber of amazing talent we have in all of our regions. I also want to address your concerns about employee morale. Pluralsight has experienced significant change over the past two years and these changes have caused some uncertainty and stress. I want to assure you that timely, honest communication has been, and will continue to be, a priority for all of us as we navigate these changes to become a stronger company. Finally I want to clarify my recent comments about employee morale. Our underperformance as a business is impacting employee morale, which is understandable. We’re working hard to make our customers happy which in turn makes us more successful, and in my experience typically leads to happier employees. - Will

Pros

Competitive Base, Nice HQ, Partially Remote

Cons

They are struggling on the sales side with no direction. Siloed management and teams, and a lot of CYA. Last year at this time they laid off a bunch of people. They communicated to the revenue team that each of us had 3 choices. 1. Quit and you get a 1 month of base salary for every year of service as severance. 2. Resign your position and interview for another open role. If you don't get it you are jobless. 3. Interview for your current role. They conducted interviews and fired dozens of great folks a week before Christmas. This year, fresh for 2022, boom - another 400 gone right before Christmas. Pluralsight (Vista Puppet) has ZERO regards or compassion for its people. I feel bad for those who got sacked in either of these massacres. One thing I will say is, they are going to be better off in the long run. If you survived, count your blessings and bounce as soon as you can on your own terms.

Pros

- benefits were once very good, although they have seriously declined since the Vista acquisition - I worked with lots of really awesome people while I was there, though most of them have left now

Cons

- extreme emotional manipulation at the managerial level, often bordering on emotional abuse - extreme manipulation at the org level, claiming to be mission and values-driven when they clearly are not. C-suite does not own up to difficult decisions but always attempts to couch them in excuses or fluff - cult-like attitudes persist in the engineering org, often surrounding one influential person or practice, that can make it impossible to facilitate necessary change or growth
