Just another corporate company, unfortunately

Pros

Not the worse place to work, still some pockets of really great people doing really cool things. This company used to be REALLY awesome.

Cons

Heavy focus on cutting costs over all other things. Employees do not benefit nearly as much to company success as they used to. Attrition and 6-7 rounds of layoffs (in the last 2 years) have hit the culture extremely hard.

Thank you for the review. I’m sorry to hear your experience at Pluralsight ended on a bad note. I agree that the people here are amazing and it’s something we continue to hear from team members on internal surveys. I understand your concerns about the impact of layoffs on our culture. While we’ve had to make some tough decisions, our focus was not solely on cutting costs. Instead, we were committed to creating a healthy business that operates efficiently and delivers meaningful impact. Currently, we’re hyper focused on investing in the areas of our business that we believe will help us find success. Our leadership team is dedicated to strengthening our culture and aligning our strategy with long-term goals. We’re working hard to ensure that our efforts lead to a more positive and engaging environment for our team members. I’m not sure what you’re specifically referencing in your feedback about team members not benefiting from company success like they used to. However, our bonus funding has always been tied to the performance of the company and we’ve consistently paid out a portion of bonuses over the past few years that were in line with our success. Thank you again for sharing your perspective. Will Clive Chief People Officer

Pros

Unlimited PTO was the only thing keeping me around. The flexible schedule made up for how horrible everything else was.

Cons

No pay raises once your reach cap No promotion ladder. Only promotions if they have them available. Which was never. Constant layoffs is messing up with products quality Bad management vision and direction, completely clueless on to what to do to help the company for the last 3 years

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I understand your comments about pay raises and promotions. Typically, we conduct annual pay reviews and adjust salaries based on merit and market conditions. We did not hold a merit and market cycle last year due to company performance but we recently ran one for 2024. You are correct that once a team member reaches the top of their pay range, they are not eligible for a pay increase. There are a few reasons as to why but the main call out is because we want everyone in the same role, geo, and level to be paid equitably and fairly within a defined range. However, if a team member does reach the top of their pay range, there are some ways to continue to increase their compensation – mainly through role changes or job level increases. We do have career ladders in place for most roles at Pluralsight, outlining the path to advancement. You are correct that promotions do require a business need and alignment with organizational goals. We also recognize the impact of frequent layoffs and changes on product quality and management direction. To address these issues, we’ve recently introduced new leadership roles, including a Chief Content Officer and a Chief Delivery Officer – new and focused positions at the company. We’ve also appointed a new Chief Product & Technology Officer. These leaders come with a breadth of knowledge and are committed to aligning our strategy and driving us toward renewed success.
