Pros

Pomeroy is an excellent first stop in an IT Career. Even in the GSC, Level 1 Analysts can get a pretty extensive look at how managed services are designed and delivered. Starting pay can be competitive depending on the market. The company is working on building a more progressive work environment and it shows in certain details. Having specific management pedigrees wherein growth is fostered does make advancement within the company achievable.

Cons

Pomeroy faces some challenges from an infrastructure perspective - the internal tools, development, and employee support groups struggle to provide reliable, intuitive solutions to help client facing employees do their jobs to the best of their ability. There's also a general apathy in the face of complaints regarding a lack of progressive compensation where it is most important. These items lead to an unfortunate perception that the company is operating in a low-funded state which makes it difficult for entry level and low-to-mid level employees to have and keep confidence in the company.

You are an asset, possible liability, and totally replaceable.

Pros

The paychecks clear. They offer benefits. They have company vehicles for now. Raises happen sometimes. They really like webinars. Their email strategies are awesome when updating all of our thousands of employees about changes that usually don’t affect us.

Cons

Documentation used to keep employee educated is incomplete. When this was pointed out I was informed that I didn’t speak for the account and the information is still outdated. The group in charge of keeping documentation up to date is understaffed and over worked. Suggestions are met with defensive smart aleck responses. Attempts to share knowledge are also met with condescending answers. Yet when I ask my peers they agree they had the same question and no idea that the answer given was “the way things are and have been.” I have taken it upon myself to collect and update my knowledge base. The site we are sent to was thrown together and made pretty to get customers and new hires. It’s an obvious sales tool with little actual value. I was brought on by being shown all of the information at my fingertips. Only to find out it’s organization is comical. The missing information may be added someday and updates are found by chance not notification. Once hired the experienced techs laughed when I brought up the site. We had company vehicles but those are being taken away after the bean counters figured out this is not a high profit industry. Considering we service retail (which has been on the slide for years) this shouldn’t have been a surprise. I just can not suggest this to anyone. Seniority rules all and if don’t have it you are screwed no matter how long you’ve worked here. If the people above you don’t want to help you no one above them will push the matter. This is already much longer than I meant it to be. Go into it with yours eyes open. If everyone around you is just trying to cover there own backside that should tell you something.

Pros

I have worked here more than 7 years, Management is pretty lenient with it's employees. as long as you follow processes.

Cons

The pay is not very good and small wage increases and not even every year. They do offer a 401K but not always match what you put into your account.
