Decent culture / Low compensation

Pros

I loved the people I worked with and felt like I was working amongst friends everyday. I felt the Poptalks were inspirational and liked that the company promoted self-development. There is a fun atmosphere at the surface but underlying are a lot of frustrations and disconnects from the self proclaimed culture and the preachings of upper management.

Cons

COMPENSATION - The pay couldn't keep me there quite honestly. Compensation was a hot topic amongst employees but it was very hush hush. At $36,000 a year, unless you have roommates or live with you parents (which 95% of the office did), you can't survive. Especially being salaried and expected to work long hours due to short staffed teams and high workloads, I was making $13 an hour based on my hours worked / compensation. ATTRITION - The staffing industry itself has a reputation for having high turnover. But after working there for just a year, about 60-70% of the office was either let go or left for better opportunities. Upper management never mentioned it. CAREER ADVANCEMENT - I spent a week in Detroit learning about the company's values and culture and one of the things that was highly emphasized there was to "speak up", "ask questions" and "if you weren't liking your position that there were other opportunities within the company (based on performance and within reason). The payroll team especially had a reputation for being limited in career advancement opportunities but I spend most of my days wondering what my position would grow into and I couldn't see it. EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP - There is a major tenure gap between PG employees and exec leadership. I think they have issues relating with their millennial employees. I had someone in upper management tell me my compensation was fair because "All the best recruiters he's ever know and worked with made 36K a year. He told me when he was a recruiter that's how much he made". Well in the 1990s, that was equivalent to making about 65,000 today. We aren't in the 90s anymore. Overall a cultural disconnect. PG is at a plateau in their mountain climb. Until they start listening to employees and compensating fairly, they are going to be in the same loop with new millennials until they figure that out. Populus Group has hit a critical moment internally; the company is stagnant. They've hit a plateau and they are trying to figure out how to move forward and are losing employees in the process. The health of the company is failing

Pros

Great entry level experience in technical recruiting Full time job with benefits

Cons

Lack of personal growth- a new fancy title does not mean "growth" High attrition rate (don't count on the team you were hired into being around long...) Poor pay rate (your base pay does not change regardless of added responsibility) Poor contracts- its hard to be successful with the contracts they have in place. (MSFT A-) In one ear out the other- Management will "listen" to employee advice, but do nothing If you are a contractor, do not count of being redeployed.

Having 1* Reviews Removed

Pros

None, they are unethical at the core

Cons

They are literally spending their time on Glassdoor having legitimate employee reviews that have worked directly for the company that are 1* removed to pad their image. They claim their moto is trust but intentionally change their narrative by doing this. They had at least 3 recent reviews removed, but many more had to be removed since no new reviews were added and they jumped up quite a bit in both overall stars and acceptance. They are unethical, untrustworthy, do not care about anything but lining their own pockets. Do no support them with your capabilities or your business.

Hi there, we want everyone to be able to share their feelings positive and negative. We don't flag reviews unless we think something in it is against the community guidelines of Glassdoor. We've reached out to Glassdoor support regarding review removal and below are the reasons they told us why a review may no longer be visible: 1. The member did not validate their account. We require email verification from a permanent, active email address or a valid social networking account for a user submitting content. 2. The member deleted their review. Glassdoor members have the ability to delete their contributions at any time. 3. The member has submitted another review for the same company before 364 days have passed. We publish the newest submissions only. 4. The review was removed by Glassdoor. Glassdoor periodically performs integrity checks on our data; or the data was flagged for review. When a review gets flagged, the Content & Community Team will re-evaluate the review to determine if it violates our Community Guidelines and remove if necessary. 5. The review is from a contractor, freelancer, or intern. If your company has more than 15 reviews, we default the view to filter out contractor, freelancer, and intern reviews. However, users are always able to view these reviews by simply selecting the appropriate filters.
