Pros

I'm 17 and have been working at Potbelly for about 9 months. I have worked really hard and as a senior in high school I was working 25-30 hour weeks on top of school. I cover for people's shifts all the time, always do what I am told, and I always help the new associates. My GM noticed my dedication and promoted me to Certified Trainer. This will be my second raise since I got hired. Not bad! In the fall, I am going to college and Potbelly is transferring me to the store on my campus. -I love my co-workers -Rewarding experience for high school student -I can get as many hours as I desire -I am getting transferred when I go to college -Pretty easy to mark days off -If you work hard, there are always opportunities for growth in the company

Cons

I work at the largest and busiest Potbelly in our district. -Almost always understaffed.. customers notice this! We get the same amount of staff at night that stores a third of our size get! Not fair. -Obsession with labor score. -Scheduling problems all the time -Shift leads are barely paid more than associates. They have little incentive to work hard and it shows.

Pros

- Had some really fun coworkers - Great live music during lunch - Shifts go by relatively quickly

Cons

- Raises are really low and very far in between (and bonuses were paltry) - Too much emphasis on making money/keeping labor ridiculously low - The company has gotten extremely cheap (for example, I miss the buttons they used to make; they now expect employees to make "bag tags" - draw on sandwich bags and pin them, uggghh!) - Too many outside hires for management - Frequent changes and too much paperwork - Minimum of 50 hrs/wk required for AMs and GMs (but they always ended up working more hours with no overtime) - Not enough feedback by General Manager or District Manager - Management training required to be done during off hours (including training classes) - Frequent transfers for Assistant Managers and above - Constant understaffing causes a lot of stress and difficult closes
