Pros

Cafeteria. Not subsidized by Premera!!. If you are under 40 you will be promoted at less money than the regime currently in power. Go Premera.

Cons

A typical work day is focused around useless meetings, multi-leveled management that provides no added value, and cliques of ill equipped executive level managers. The company made $320 Billion in 2008 but requires employees to use vacation time when the office is intentionally closed for the days prior to long holidays. The guise is that that it costs too much money to pay employees for unused paid time off. Be prepared to take your portable lap top with you even to your lunch and home. It is now your new parasite.

Pros

Premera has a nice physical workspace, cafeteria. There are some very good people there. Good integrity with regard to their products (despite what people think of insurance companies).

Cons

There is a culture of not sharing knowledge so that one can feel like they are "needed". Salaries are low, and as is typical with health insurance companies, they are slow to embrace technology. Remote working is discouraged, and a general sense of distrust with employees is felt. (I am not talking about employees at an entry level position.) The CEO and executive level salary discrepancy is outrageous and disheartening when bonus time rolls around and you see how wide the gap is between the haves and have nots.
