The role of the DCO has become a dumping ground for all of operations. The role is responsible for all clinical oversight (even if you’re not a clinician), operational oversight, strategic growth and development, sales, product implementation…I could go on. The fact that the clinical leaders in this company only provide consultation to operations without any direct responsibility is scary and ineffective. I often felt like I was solely responsible for solving all problems no matter what area allegedly “owned” it because ownership falls entirely on the DCO. It’s sad because there are so many amazing operators that have come and gone with no changes by senior leadership to the structure and support of the operations division.

If you are clinically oriented, do not apply for a leadership position -- this company is more oriented toward upselling products to clients and improving their sales prospects and image than impacting patients. Terrible disconnect between what top executives state and what is actually occurring.
