Pros

Disappointing experience so far so this will be short: pay is okay (just okay) but depends on your level, free healthcare premiums (but watch out for that high deductible), some great mid-level and junior staff trying their best to cope in a fear-driven and toxic culture.

Cons

Human resources is almost totally absent - resulting in employees siloed under managers. Some managers are great, some mediocre, and some are worse. This results in a toxic and dysfunctional environment overall. Top leadership does not take career development or human resources seriously - and Privia hasn't meaningfully invested in either to date. A small "Talent" team purports to represent H/R but lacks the requisite experience and knowledge to manage the many H/R issues that arise in a fast-growing company. Privia leadership expends time and resources trying to quell genuine Glassdoor reviews by "asking" new or inner-circle leadership to post positive reviews. I say asking with quotes because employees have been brought into the Talent office and accused of posting negative reviews on Glassdoor. Five negative reviews of Privia - 20% of total submissions - have disappeared as of the time of this writing. It is unclear why these genuine reviews have been removed. It is downright scary that a company would resort to these tactics to manipulate its public image. Turnover is outrageous. I have never seen turnover like this in my career. The company bleeds talent monthly, with fresh faces filling seats but incapable of filling the institutional knowledge that keeps pouring out the doors. Beware the false front that Privia puts up for doctors and candidates alike. Far too much energy is spent on fluffing up Privia's purported technology capabilities, career opportunities, and its "high performance" culture. In reality, there are very few advancement opportunities available. Unless you are a seasoned industry veteran, do not expect to get promoted or even get a decent bonus at Privia. You are far more likely to quit or be let go. If you're desperate for a job, you might be able to squeeze out a few months before you tear your hair out and run for the doors.

A Mistake if you're a Doctor, a Mistake if you're an Employee

Pros

The talent team will sell you on a few pro's: Free health coverage- This is the only true pro. Stock options- Our talent team will dangle this in front of you when they inevitably give you a weaker offer than your asking price. The truth is that these stock options are far from materializing. Ask the right questions "How long do I need to work here until these options vest?" In short, when considering Privia, do not let this change your expectations for compensation. This is a gimmick more than anything. Bonus- The talent team will also tell you that you will be awarded an annual performance-based bonus. They will also say that the bonus can help get you to the salary that you initially mentioned. In reality, leadership encourages employees to set unattainable quarterly objectives which directly tie to your bonus. Again, not a factor that you should take seriously when considering an offer.

Cons

The culture is toxic. In my experience, members of the leadership team simply want bodies in the door for most roles. 90% of the company has busy work while the other 10% talks big ideas to the investors that keep this company afloat. Turnover is astronomical. I have seen many of my coworkers quit due to workplace bullying by members of leadership. This is likely a product of the company being largely led by young people. This seems ideal at first, but in reality it leads to unethical business behavior and leadership with reckless abandon. There is no HR department. We simply have a talent team that seeks to bring more bodies in the door as employees quit. As an employee, I have nowhere to go when I feel as though I am bullied by my managers. This happens because the talent team and leadership team is largely a clique that will not hesitate to fire individuals who seem like a threat. For any physicians reading this, Privia does not have your best interest in mind. You are simply a source of fees for them. Privia seeks out vulnerable doctors who need business help. I have seen many physicians who wish to leave Privia but simply do not have the resources or patience necessary to do so. Read the fine print in your contract, learn about Privia's revenue streams.

We really appreciate your feedback. To address your most serious concern would be the issue of bullying in the workplace and not feeling like you have a place to go. Our HR Team is called "Talent" because we handle all things related to our talented workforce. We are in lock-step with our Legal Team in handling anything related to employee relations, partner policy and handbook questions, issues of bullying in the workplace, and more. If you believe you're being bullied by your manager, please do come forward to a member of the Talent Team to address your issues directly. You may have noticed on your Team calendar that we have company wide Mandatory Non-Harassment Training for our entire employee base in early February. We continue to roll out initiatives to support our employee base as best we can. We are always open to constructive feedback around how we can better serve and support, but it is helpful to have specific context around each and every situation. Please schedule time with a member of the Talent Team to talk specifically about your ideas.

Pros

Some great people here, if you can find them by sorting through the cliques.

Cons

No career development, talent team will tell you anything to get you to go back to your seat and continue slaving away. No office space, shared cubes. Team managers guilt you for not staying until 9pm with them while they make three times your salary. Extremely high turnover. You'll leave here right where you began and want those years of your career back to use at a real company.

Thank you for taking time to post your concerns. I am sorry you have had such a negative experience as an employee at Privia. As a long-time employee, you have experienced our rapid growth and with that comes a lot of hard work. We are proud of the opportunities that have been created by this level of growth. I, personally, am excited to be graduating our first session of Emerging Leaders from our program designed to prepare these individuals for the next step in their career advancement. Additionally, the Talent and HR teams are working together with each department to establish career progressions for each role that include both a management and technical track so we aren't stifling the career growth of someone who is a strong SME but isn't interested in managing people. There are a lot of great opportunities for career growth and I encourage you to speak with your department head or me personally to understand the opportunities available to you. Thanks! - Jenny Harding
