Don't Try Too Hard

Pros

Overtime pay is most of your income (24hr and 60hr weeks) Most employees are knowledgeable and willing to train/teach 50/50 on getting a good leader who cares for your career growth

Cons

Rapid rotating shifts - no circadian rhythm. You WILL be constantly exhausted. (DD, xx, NNN, xx, DD, xxx, NN, xx, DDD, xx, NN, xxx) 50/50 you get a leader who is fresh out of college and doesn't know how to manage people If you try too hard, you will never move up. Do the bare minimum requirement and you'll do well.

Pros

Open to hearing different perspectives Open to learning opportunities Open to be in control of your career

Cons

Little investment in work life improvements. Senior VPs are way too involved in the day to day activities. Little authority for directors and below. Often unable to drive independent growth due to priorities. Not enough support staff to enable strategic planning. Most benefits affect employees with families disproportionately. Old building, poor benchmarks for opportunities. Slow to change.

Pros

Good disability program Multiple benefit programs Good relocation packages

Cons

Over worked (390 hours in 6 weeks without overtime or bonuses), underpaid versus competitors, doesn’t value skills - values elbow rubbing, 1.2 million in bonuses for CEO - but no extra bonuses for employees that worked >300 hours in a month
