Pros

Helping teachers, encouraged creativity, not micro-managed, travel, work-life balance was better than when I was teaching

Cons

toxic positivity, constant lies about the direction of the company, poor leadership, bad company decisions leading to sub-par products and software, and never sure if you will have a job tomorrow, no matter how good you are at your job

Pros

You will work with some of the best people out there. Incredibly collaborative and willing to share.

Cons

There are lots of changes happening at Promethean. People do not feel secure or appreciated. The company has always been ahead of its time and innovative, but they are slow to the race. Software is very outdated and Product Managers/higher ups aren't listening to what teachers want. Stick with your current products and make them better. They are too focused on acquiring other products. Teachers want one solution and one place to get the tools they need. They have been taking years to come out with new software. YEARS!!! Competitors are ahead of the game with better, more collaborative software. As an EC, you will literally have ZERO opportunities to grow. They will also take advantage of your creative talents and ask you to do work that is outside your job description. Travel is insane at times for some ECs and zero for others. Huge discrepancy in territories with the amount of travel. HR is basically non-existent. I never had an exit interview. People are leaving at an alarming rate as well as being let go.

Pros

Benefits, PTO, flexibility, casual dress (jeans)

Cons

No money here, terrible manager (no skill set for his job), poor head of company, and Chinese owner doesn't care about us. Low commission structure and difficult to navigate, constant changing metrics and goals; never any positive reinforcement, negative and reactive style of managing, knee-jerk decisions, no long-term focus, no consistencies across team with negotiations/operations, etc. Manager is inexperienced. I have never seen one person come in and so quickly and blatantly divide a team, and create such a negative, distrustful, petty environment. Over half our team (double digits) have quit since Feb... typical, instead of firing the manager who has done a poor job; they now have moved them to another area and promoted them (given Director title). Reg. Coordinators are no better; I personally have lost sales due to their lack of judgment and skills. One Reg Coord babysits -- walks by every morning (and every afternoon) looking and asking is so-and-so here, where did so-and-so go, ...and isn't even our Reg Coord (this is so disrespectful); treating us like children instead of professionals (even though we are the top performers on the team). Plus, only Reg Coord. can now work from home; two of them come and go as they please. It sets a bad example. It either should be everyone on inside team can work from home (with specific set days), or no one can; no reason why we can all work from home 1-2 days a week. It starts at the top. Pres running the company does not care about his people; self-consumed; similar lack of direction, never enough, negative tone in sales calls - obvious total lack of respect. They just hired a new CEO -- maybe he will fire them, but I still wouldn't work here. The main person at Chinese company is outsourcing some positions, closing warehouse, changing procedures and direction making it less and less about taking care of our customers ... at the cost of jobs, quality of product and service, and customers.
