Pros

Nice people, no drama, reasonable hours (but very little flexibility).

Cons

Engineering leadership lacks experience and is struggling with cloud technology, repeating every common engineering mistake. Sadly, the culture is not open to improving by listening to external experience. If you are an established expert who has already successfully built larger systems than here you'll be very frustrated at Proofpoint as your input is routinely ignored. The culture is strictly hierarchical so unless you land position with an architect title you will be treated as an entry-level coder.

Pros

There are some immensely talented people among the staff. You can learn a lot working there.

Cons

Organizational problems do not get solved by management. Work it out with your peers or give up. Middle-management is like something between a revolving door and an abattoir. I'm suspicious that the business model may not have margins necessary to support sufficient staff to run the business. You end up making do with minimal resources. That means fixing off-warranty equipment in the middle of the night with whatever parts you can find.

Pros

The company offers standard benefits. The colleagues are pleasant. They offer free beverages and dry cleaning services. Occasional work-from-home option is allowed by certain groups.

Cons

The culture is very bad. Too many silos and functional groups do not collaborate or help each other. The company conducts surprise lay-offs of really smart, capable and solid contributors. It hires senior level management only to have them focused on junior level/tactical work. No opportunity for advancement unless you leave and come back.
