Pros

- The employees will always be PSH's strongest asset. The feeling of teamwork can be very strong and the company makes an effort in having people from different teams mingle with one another and collaborate on projects. I have never had so many people go out of their way to introduce themselves when we first crossed paths at work. This is the main reason that I stayed with the company for as long as I did and why I sometimes miss this job. - With being habitually understaffed, you quickly master and outgrow your role due to wearing several hats and doing more than what is listed in your job description. - Potential to eventually move into various HR functional roles and even management roles. - Company has strong health care benefits (with amazingly low premiums) and competitive voluntary benefits/leave benefits. - PSH is well connected with the community which presents the opportunity to take higher level roles with one of their clients or to make connections for your next move once you have outgrown your role. - There will NEVER be a shortage of overtime available. The only time I didn't have OT was the first few months while I was onboarding. - Very easy access to managers/executives/CEO from any level of position in the company. - Always willing to try something new and quick to jump into trying new processes. - I do think that the company could turn itself around and be everything that they aim to be with their values. But it will take a lot of difficult discussions with management and their employees to find the sweet spot for success and happy employees.

Cons

- While their employees are their strongest asset, they can sometimes be tone deaf when taking feedback from their employees. Sometimes it felt like they were just saying what we wanted to hear to quiet the employee concerns and get us back to work. - With their high turnover rate in the past almost 2 years, it seems that new initiatives fizzle out before they can even begin due to the HR and executive teams constantly changing. Seems to be a lot of talk about action that is important to employees but then the talk disappears and they move onto the next fire. - Burnout is real and it can happen quickly due to habitual staff shortages. It will be difficult to take time off due to knowing the workload that you will come back to. While people do try to cover while you're out, they are already overloaded with their own work. However, I was at least never called while out on leave which is amazing. - The main growth opportunities lie with customer focused roles. There isn't a lot of movement outside of this focus. And if there is opportunity, your role can quickly change to needing to help the customer facing roles with their workload due to understaffing and high workloads. - Some of the clients will have unrealistic expectations/will not want to be compliant with the law. It can be hard to maintain expectations and keep the client compliant when the client is primarily looking at their costs. - OT will almost become necessary to survive. Good luck leaving on time more than a couple of times a week. - Due to being customer facing, I was unable to have flexible scheduling. - The commitment to looking for efficiency can be exhausting. Before the new process/tool has been fully tested or looked into, we were using it for clients. And just as quickly we would abandon the process/tool without trying to fully trying to take advantage of what it did have to offer. - Like others have said, the pay is not competitive. Yes, OT can make up for it. But if you're looking for higher pay or have a decent amount of experience, you can most likely find higher pay for less work if you take the time. - The loudest voices and people willing to make a quick BIG sacrifice will be promoted over people who consistently show over long periods of time their knowledge, improvement, and dedication. - Personally, I've never cried more while on the clock than this job. Several times while having 1-1 meetings with my manager and many times at the end of the day due to stress from the never ending work load that is not manageable.

Proservice Hawaii Response

Mahalo for the comments. We do pride ourselves on collaborative teamwork amongst our employees. As you stated, they are indeed our strongest asset. Like most companies during the past two years, staffing has been a top issue. We have been lucky to maintain the majority of our employees during this time and over the past year have continued to increase our staff to meet our ever growing client demand. Companies in Hawaii need our services more than ever and we are doing all we can to meet those needs through improvements in tools, processes, and people. We recognize there have been growing pains along the way and we have taken actions to mitigate those pains. We have work to do but are well on our way. We value employee feedback and take great care to work together to implement changes based on that feedback. Thank you again for your responses. We value input like this and look forward to continuing to be a Best Places to Work in Hawaii.

Pros

The people, atmosphere, client focused, employee centered, employee growth, and career advancement opportunities. Everyone would love to work for Proservice.

Cons

Not that I can think of. Our internal communication and problem solving is at a level that solves any cons that may come up, so I am unaware so far of any.

Pros

Awesome perks. Large company with room for movement. After 1 year in your position you have the ability to apply for other higher positions

Cons

Training is rough. Not your traditional day by day training. They train when they can and expect you to manage yourself
