where do we recoup the money? that is the question
Pros
Good pay and reasonable benefits. Some coworkers are kind
Cons
• Make no mistake, the upper management that came from Microsoft are lapping up the recognition and want to make money, period. • Providence is losing money due to having to shutdown elective surgery (and they are looking at how they can recoup that $) • Providence is spending money (and a lot of it) on the Microsoft Technology (software, hardware, management) but little money on investing in keeping their employees that are doing the work at the Hospital and Clinics. • Outsourcing or attempting to make everything "one team" and/or remote instead, so staff with no experience at that particular clinic or Hospital are giving direction to staff that do not know the environment either (so everyone is lost). IE networking and phones, issues routed for US by India for example. • Work previously assigned to the staff that were outsourced shifted to team with no additional resources and work area coverage and responsibility grows by the day. • Analyzing the type of work so they can see what can be a "shift left" thinking that amongst all the rapid changes, without thorough testing, with the thought that remote staff can support the cloud based technology, thereby alleviating the need for onsite staff or reducing work. It's not - the mess that is being cleaned up is cleverly hidden in a bunch of tickets. • The other day I was invited to a meeting to discuss how difficult it is for Senior Leaders to decide whether to outsource a department or not and what types of questions they have to ask (precursor and the reason that there is so much emphasis on documenting everything we do?)
